Dr. Earl L. Pendleton is a native of Louisa County, Virginia. He is married to Tammy Bolden Pendleton and has two adult sons, Earl, II and John. He holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Norfolk State University, a Master’s Degree in Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He is the past pastor of Salem Baptist Church in Buckingham, Virginia where he served from 1992-2003. Dr. Pendleton served as the Interim Pastor at First Baptist Church in Lexington, VA from January 2010 until March 30, 2011. He also served as the Interim Pastor at First Liberty Baptist Church in Dillwyn, VA from January 2014 until August 15, 2015. Dr. Pendleton is the Assistant to the Pastor at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia where he has served in this capacity for twelve years.
Rev. Pendleton has served on a number of community agencies and boards throughout Central Virginia, including Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR), Monticello Area Community Action Agency Board (MACAA), the Child Advocacy Center Board in Charlottesville, Virginia. Rev. Pendleton served on the Louisa County School Board for four years. He taught Bible study at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Jail and served as a volunteer at the Greenbrier Elementary School in Charlottesville, VA. After a 30 year career of working with juveniles and families, Rev. Pendleton retired from the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice in 2004. Rev. Pendleton is an instructor for the Evans -Smith Leadership Institute and conducts church leadership workshops and seminars. Rev. Pendleton loves to teach and preach and believes the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power unto salvation and can transform every soul unto the likeness of Christ.
